Why choose a pastel painting?
Pastel paintings can last a lot longer than oil paintings in terms of colour and vibrance. The pastel is pure pigment bound with chalk and is the least
susceptible medium to be affected by sunlight, fading and cracking.
Do I need to supply a photograph?
Yes, a photograph is needed to create your painting. If you are looking to commission a pet portrait photo shoots are available.
How long does it take to paint a picture?
A painting takes on average between 2 - 12 weeks to complete. A 'Special' can be painting in 2 weeks and a full body Pastlemat commission up to 12 weeks.
Basically the more complex a piece the longer it will take to finish. To see the availability slots throughout the year check out the Commission Calendar.
Do you send reports concerning the progress of my commission?
Yes, progress reports are sent to you via email (sorry no texts). We may also ask for your permission to show the piece on the 'New' blog section of stevehenryart.com.
If you agree you can check out the progress of your art piece online.
Do you give a free archival print on all commissions?
Only for the Pastlemat pet/people commissions. High resolution digital prints are always sent with any type of commission.
Are shoots only available to pet portrait clients?
Yes, photo shoots are only available to clients who have paid a deposit for a pet portrait.
Do you offer photo shoots for other pets?
Yes, photo shoots are available for other pets just as long as you can bring them along with you.
Do you offer photo shoots for people?
Unfortunately no, we just don't have the space to be able to offer this service. A dedicated studio is needed to fit the necessary lighting, staging area for backdrops, seating etc.
How much do the photo shoots cost?
The photo shoot is free to clients who choose a Pastlemat commission and a nominal fee of £75 to a client that chooses a 'Specials' commission.
Do you offer other types of photographic services?
If you own a holiday home in the Anglesey area or run a local business I can be available for real estate, business or product shoots time permitting.
Do your frames include glass?
Unfortunately no. It is too much of a risk to include glass just in case of a breakage and the painting is damaged.
There is enough room left within the frame to accommodate glass which you can add yourself at a later date.
Can I just buy a frame without placing a commission?
Frames are only available to clients that place a commission with us.
We offer this service to make it easy for them to hang the painting as soon as possible.
Do I need glass in my frame?
You don't need glass but is highly recommended to protect your painting from dust and being touched.
Is the frame free on request if I place a commission with you?
There is a charge of approx. £35 for all bespoke frames. This isn't so much a charge for the materials but for the time spent creating the frame.
Do you recommend a frame for a people portrait?
The frames are more suited for pets not people and a service of convenience for the client so they can hang their picture as soon as possible.
Where should I avoid hanging my painting
Avoid placing your painting anywhere that can be possibly damp, easily knocked, near high heat ie radiators, fires, outside doors, open fires (dust).
How do I pay for my painting?
Payment can be sent via BACS transfer, cheque or Bitcoin
Is a deposit required?
Yes, a deposit is required with all commissions.
